A postcard from Brighton

Bonjour all! We've been rather rubbish with blogging in the last week and I'd say sorry. But I hate it when bloggers apologise for not posting. I'm sure your your week was just as fabulous without our girly ramblings! More to the point on Monday we headed off for a mini-getaway to Brighton. As Erika is staying in Sweden for the summer and Harriett is off to Canada soon, it was a last hoorah for all the three of us for a while.

It was of course only appropriate to reenact some fight from either 'Quadrofenia'/ 'Brighton Rock' for our mod loving fathers in front of the Grand.

Oh the drama!

A maple leaf we found.

Me and Erika were lucky enough to be tour guided around Brighton by Harriett, who grew up there. Here she is in front of the flat that she and her boyfriend Travis used to live. (Nwaawh cute)

Erika is my favourite Northern light!

We headed to 'Ken's' in the lanes, a greasy spoon that has various vegan options. Wahey! Me and Harriett enjoyed vegan breakfast rolls. Delicious.

Then came some serious shopping. Harriett made off with this 30's Chinese hat and some various bits and pieces.

I bought myself two pairs of perfectly fitting 1940's shoes. They're so gorgeous and I can't wait to show you all in outfit posts!

We then met our friend Joe from university who was in town visiting a friend. We played giant Jenga.....

Erika lost twice!

We then met up with Harriett's fab mum. Who is the reigning Queen of Brighton, sausage dogs and all things Cath Kidston.

We went to eat in 'Food for friends'. A fancy vegetarian resturant.

 Erika's fried Risotto.

My mexican.

Vegan chocolate taurt.

Gooseberry cobbler with vegan raspberry ice cream.

We then went back to Harriett's folks place and hung out with the family's four sausage dogs!

Did someone go out in the rain? Silly Willow!

Hope you liked our postcard. Still to come is Berlin day 5 and 6 by Jess. I've also been scanning another vintage magazine of mine.

Harriett's moving to Canada!

I think its about time I shared with our lovely readers the exciting,
yet utterly terrifying news. On the 16th of August this year, I will
be moving to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Although I always new
I would be moving back to the home of my boyfriend Travis for
quite some time, the big move has been rushed due to the difficulty in
him obtaining another UK visa.

Although its going to break my heart to leave Aimee behind, I
can assure you we will keep blogging, in fact we have some
really great plans in the pipe line for our little Internet space,
which we shall reveal to you all very soon!

So please be patient if my blogs are few and far between for the
next couple of weeks, I have 7 years worth of collecting vintage
to transport half way across the world!

I'm going to leave you with some of my favourite candid photos
of me and Aimee over the last two years, this is the end of an era,
but the start of a new more exciting one. I can't wait for her to
come visit me on the other side of the Atlantic, smother each other
in maple syrup then thrift shop till the sun goes down.

Harriett xx

P.s. You will all have to look after Aimee!

Berlin Diary: Day 4.

My dearest followers. Aimee here with another installment from our trip, I hope you're not sick of it yet! I am lucky enough to write about day 4, which we have all decided was the best day! On this day we decided to go to Juni Flohmarkt and boating!

You may have read in earlier posts that we're obsessed with avocado on toast for breakfast. Mmmm. Of course my breakfast comes with a cuppa tea. I brought those tea bags all the way from old blighty much to Harriett and Jess's dismay!

Here we are in Juni Flohmarkt. This is one of many flea markets in Berlin, but one of the only Saturday markets. We didn't buy too much from this market as its rather expensive. People that I've spoken to say its one of  the touristy  markets.

We took these pictures for Solanah as they're just like paintings she's made and she loves cats!

I was so excited to see all this old bakelite on their original stands. Unfortunately the bangles were very expensive (100euro +), but they were lovely to look at.

A Victorian toy cat made with real cat hair. It also made a little miowing sound!

'Where are the bargains?!'

Then we headed off to the boating place in Tiergarten which also had a beer garden.

Here's me and Jess with the vintage smut we bought. I scanned mine and blogged about it. You can see that here.

Me and Jess got a huge delicious pizza between us. YUM.

Me and Harriett having a little smooch. Why not?

Personally I think Frankenstein monster posers are hilarious when wearing wide shouldered 40's jackets!

Unfortunately when we were eating it started to rain and we thought our boating dreams were over. Luckily the rain stopped but the lady who takes the fee for the boats disappeared into thin air.

So we decided to commandeer the boat! Berlin Pirates ahoy! This is Beau, our host and Anna's lovely husband.

So I was pretty terrified of falling in at first. But after a while I even mastered up the courage to have a go at rowing. Yes that's right, me, from Hackney, rowing!

Gorgeous Jess is wearing her 30's hat from ebay, my 50's blouse from ebay, topshop skirt and 20's shoes.

Pretty little Harriett is wearing a 1930's child's P.E. uniform which looks lovely as a playsuit.

Here I am in my late 40's dress which I bought from Spitalfields antique market.

Later in the evening we went downtown with Anna, Beau and their lovely friends. We wore our poshest 30's frocks but we didn't stay late and forgot to take photos. Doh! The last installment of our trip will be guest written by Jess. So stay tuned!
