Hello Kittens.
This Sunday I went for a munch with our dear friend Sophie who has
previously guest posted for us with her amazing Ebay finds. Lately things
have turned to shit again in Harriett Land (got made redundant/losing flat/ blah)
but instead of sitting in my room listening to Brian Eno and banging my head against
the wall I decided it would be good to get out of the house and spend some time
prancing around Columbia Road. I don't know where in the world you are reading
this from but its fucking cold in London right now. So I dug out some furs and
started dressing like a 70 year old Manhattan Socialite. Enjoy!
I am wearing
1970s Fox Fur Hat: Charity Shop
Edwardian Blouse: Gift from Sophie
1970s Leather Belt: Charity Shop
1950s Harrods Mink & Goat Skin Fur Coat: Antique Stall in Lewes
1950s Wool Ski Pants: Rokit
Wool Tights: Primark
Suede Heeled Boots: Zara (Via Charity Shop)
1940s Leather Doctors Bag: Bought from Friend
The inside of this coat is so torn up from me aggressively punching my arms into
the sleeves last winter in Berlin in an attempt to shield myself from the cold as quickly
as humanly possible. It looks like the fox on my head crawled of and mauled it.
Glamorous.
Sophie bought a little leather 1940s bag from the little vintage stalls just round the
corner from the main flower market. I got a Joan Baez record and some flowers
for my new head dress venture. If you haven't checked out the Lady of the Flowers
tumblr yet fill yourself in!
Sophie wears:
1940s Tilt Hat: Ebay
1950s Bed Jacket: Ebay
1980s Riding Jacket: Ebay
1960s Belt: Her Grandmothers
1940s Skirt: Ebay
1980s Leather Boots: Her Mothers
Sorry my Outfit posts have been so few of late. Its hard to take elegant pictures of
yourself when you spend most of your free time standing in an east London alleyway
in the pissing rain downing budget gin and screaming WHY DOESN'T ANYONE LOVE ME?!
But I am going to try much harder to share with you our style, lives and adventures
more often, as we have so much exciting stuff in store its a almost a little daunting.
Love you all

My dear Miss Harriett, I love your style anyway and I'm curious to see more outfit photos of you. You're looking amazing in that Edwardian blouse and the wool pants. The tilt hat of Miss Sophie is a real treasure. So marvellous. Hugs from Miss Maple
ReplyDeleteLooking beautiful as always! And I really hope your circumstances are only temporary... Perfect time to read 1937 guide "Orchids on your budget" anyway, if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteHarriett, you look so beautiful! You suit the fox fur just perfectly and your blouse and trousers are just gorgeous. I am so sorry to hear you are unemployed, is that from the florist's job? If it's any consolation I am also unemployed after quitting my job and having my indulgent month in Malaysia. On the plus side - potential employers seem to like the fact you are available immediately and have no notice to serve. I am sure you will find something wonderful soon, with your wealth of talent I have no doubts at all! :)

So sorry to hear about your job! I hope everything starts to turn around for you! Keep looking and I'm sure something great will come along. When I graduated from graduate school, I looked for about 8 months for a job. It was terrible so I know how you feel! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! You look fab as always :)

You look so beautiful! I wish I was good on picking up outfits as you are. About the bad bit I sent you a private message on fb. Don't worry, things will be fine! <3 xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteAhhhh, your style is just so fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteOh my darling Hattie! I heard what had happened from Aimée and what wankers! All of them. Gin it is! If it helps I'm doing the same in Sweden with cheap wine (hahahahahah) in the dark cold Oktober rain. FUNTIMES!
ReplyDeleteAnd your look is amazing darling, both you and Sophie looks fab. The New York socialite look always works.
Love you!

Sorry to hear it's all rather blah for you, hope it picks up soon, never fun when the sky falls, so to speak.
ReplyDelete"Looks like the fox on my head crawled off and mauled it" oh, that's made me snort like a pig! It's just made the most amusing mental image I've had for ages. Being savaged by an irate hat/fox, bearing a long held grudge!
Looking fetching ladies. I particularly cast an envious eye upon Sophie's jacket and boots; alas, I have never worn that type with anything other than long skirts, not being blessed with the legs for it.
I've always wanted a Gladstone bag but have always been outbid on them, one day, one day.
wow, foxy lady!
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about our misfortunes,
hope things get better soon,
I am lost in admiration for your style!!!
You look (and are) amazing-- I'm sure your luck will turn soon. Looking forward to reading about your future adventures!

ReplyDeleteHope your luck turns soon x
You look gorgeous as ever, and most importantly warm!
ReplyDeleteI am constantly cold at the moment as all my coats are in a storage facility as I moved in August and really didn't expect them to still be there now!
Hope things get better soon darling!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous...as always!
Love!

ReplyDeleteGUH so incredible! I absolutely love the way you dress for the cold - those boots with tights and pants is genius! I truly hope things get better for you, by the way. You seem like a fantastic lady.
ReplyDeleteOoh you both look totally gorgeous and super glam! Sorry to hear things haven't been going so well, but I'm sure life'll pick up again soon.

You are fabulous. I also recently had a bout of shit (lost my job, crashed into neighbours car, had credit cards hacked) but I just wallowed and played Star Wars Lego. I should have been dressing amazingly and wandering the streets! Looks much better.
ReplyDeleteYou sound amazing. I want to play lego and wallow in self pity with you!
