Bright Young Twins Bewilder Berlin: Take 2

Heidi-ho,
So today I'm bringing you the second lot of the Berlin photos. I'm gonna call it 'Take 2' as its a mix of week 2 and 3. In week 3/4 Erika came and we all got a bit camera happy. Seriously, I've spent two hours uploading photos from four different outputs and that means that the posts aren't completely stylistically coherent.

I'm gonna start off with these pictures that Harriett took of me on a night out, I think we ended up at Neu Bar this night.

Lady H snapped and edited all of these. I really love them.

These are my fabulous Office shoes which didn't make it back home with me. I almost cried when they went missing from my suitcase. I'm also wearing a 60s dress from Beyond retro, tights (which I like to call fashionable leprosy tights) from Primark and socks from H&M.

A few days after this we got taken on a picnic with some Danish boys that we met at 8mm. They took us hiking up a mountain in South Berlin where you can see the whole of the city.

Here's what I look like with my hair set with a fringe and a miserable face.

We also went to the Berlinische gallerie to get inspired by art and shit.

We managed to blag ourselves a press pass, we were very smug. Harriett's wearing a fabulous silk blouse she bought in Maurpark.

Really amazing work by Ellen Gallagher in 1965 who reconstructed advertisements aimed at black women in order to demonstrate how they play on racial insecurities.

The light was beautiful on this day. Harriett wore silks and chiffons with amazing edwardian style vintage snake skin boots that she bought at a flea market.

P.s. Me and Harriett are missing Berlin a lot, we're currently looking for cheap German lessons incase we'll end up living there for longer. If anyone has any ideas how we could learn, get in touch, maybe you're German and want to learn how to speak English better. As always email brightyoungtwins@hotmail.co.uk .

I wear bikinis but rarely swim.

Hey followers,
We're still in Berlin. The lovely people at Simply Beach sent us some gorgeous swimwear. Harriett's feeling a little under the weather today so hers is still to come. The last thing I wanted to do today was to run around in a bikini as I had a serious wobble yesterday. I went to Weekday and tried on a million pairs of high waisted skinny jeans which looked appalling on me! I do not have a jeans figure. I'm sure glad I took these as I'm feeling normal and body confident again.

Anywho, theres nothing like a high waisted bikini to make you feel a little nineteen-sixties San Tropez. I picked this gorgeous bikini by Seafolly which you can find here. I've also been wearing the top on sunny days with palazzos. I dragged Erika to Mauerpark to take these photos as its a gorgeous day today.

(I may look comfortable but there are ants biting me!)

Tomorrow we're returning home (CRIES). Looking forward to sharing the rest of the holiday snaps.

Thanks again to Simply Beach you guys are FABULOUS.

If you'd like to sponsor this blog, advertise, send us stuff that you think we'd like or generally keep us running contact brightyoungtwins@hotmail.co.uk and we'll talk!

Love Aimee

Portraits by Katie Holt

Whats up followers?! We're still in Berlin, having a ball and drinking too much prosecco (Harriett ate prosecco ice cream today, we may have a problem). Anywho we thought we'd share these portraits by Katie today. For our individual portraits, Katie was inspired to use our contrasting light and dark hair colours to her advantage. This is how they turned out.

Victorian hat - Brighton
Makeup by me

I'm wearing a 20s dress which you can't see and Harriett's 20s piece of lace.
Makeup by me

We were really pleased with these portraits and would like to thank Katie again for her hard work. You can contact Katie and see more of her work here. Tomorrow, Erika (a reoccurring character on our blog/life) comes to stay with us and then in a week we'll fly home.

Speak soon KITTENS!
Aimee (and Harriett who is in the bath right now)

Bright Young Twins Bewilder Berlin: Week 1

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, as I am sure a few of our readers are aware, we
are currently one week into our month long stay in the glorious city of Berlin!
We've decided to bring you updates of our trip in 3 instalments to prevent from
barraging you all like an irritating auntie with our holiday photos.

Today we bring to you a round up of images from our first week, it involves
booze, boating and billiards. Oh and vintage, I promise you there is vintage.

On our first day we decided to go out  for some lunch, I lost the silk flower
I am pinning on an hour after I bought it : ( what a dum dum.

Aimee does her best Nicole Richie Impersonation.

We ate a Vegan Tempeh Sandwich from Majas Deli

Later we drunk delicious ice green tea and mint drink made for us by our
beautiful host Julia

This was taken when we went to visit the old apartment of our dear friends Anna
and Beau, the gracious hosts of our previous Berlin trips before they sadly returned
 to their home land, Canada.

Aimee experienced a brief breakdown, it was all too much.

I bought this 40s photograph and 20s note paper from a local junk
 shop for around 2 euro.

This mural of Marlene Dietrich is by a local U-bahn station, we use it as a
meeting point when out gallivanting after dark with friends.

On Saturday we visited our favourite spot in Berlin, the boating lake in
Tiergarten, if you have been with us for a while you might remember it
from our trip last June. The weather and lighting was so beautiful we took a few
snaps of our outfits.

Palazzo Pants & Ballet Pumps - Primark
Edwardian Camisole - Flee Market
Edwardian Table Cloth (worn as shawl) - Lewes
1920s Boater Hat - Lewes
Broach and Ribbon - Charity Shops

1940s House Dress - Beyond Retro
Necklace - Gift from Ex Boyfriend
Vintage Lace Scarf (worn as belt) - Ebay
Mixed Bakelite Bangles - Charity Shops
Silk Flowers - Gift from Harriett

I found a pretty purple flower to press and send to someone I admire.

Then I made Aimee do some posing on a bridge.

This is a building which looks like a big boob.

Now as you can imagine we have spent a fair amount of this trip completely
pickled on prosecco. Darling Julia lent me her rather snazzy flash for my slr
camera, allowing me to live out my fantasy as a cutting edge VICE style
photographer, check out that contrast... SO EDGY!

This is our friend Jesua, he has amazing socks.

Aimee bought this dress from a little junk store that does house clearances
for around 7.50 euros, it has adorable little heart shaped pockets at the waist.

In the evening we went to a billiards hall in Prenzlauer berg to play pool.
Aimee turned out to be quite the hustler. I was completely hopeless.

We shall leave you with some nice shots of us after dark by the
Marlene mural. I've been interested in getting back into photography
for a while and Aimee has been acting gracefully as my model and
muse throughout this trip!

As I am sure you can tell we have been having the most wonderful time,
do check back in a week for the next round, I can promise you flea markets,
photo booths, spa trips, swimming and plenty of outfit posts to keep you
guys inspired.

All our love
Harriett & Aimee xx
